		<description>Thankyou Mary for posting this article. I have only coached in the JO world of either gender but I have seen a lot of things ringing true in this article. 

 I think younger guys bond more with their coach at a younger age but this sort of fades away past puberty until they are concerned more with themself. As a male athlete once upon a time, I've always had a difficult time understanding the "team" perspective as I did an individual sport in my HS years (not gymnastics) though we had team scores.</description>

Then it begins to transfer into their skills and then finally into the routines.  It takes constant energy and effort on the coaches part to not let the small details slip both in and out of season!
